The Caucasus - Georgia & Armenia
I went on the Caucasus trip to Georgia and Armenia with TUD. It was my first time travelling in a group, but in the end I was glad I did so. The trip itinerary was comprehensive, diverse and gave me a good insight into the region as a whole. and we did a lot in just 12 days — hiking in mountains, partaking in wine making, homestays in local villages, visiting centuries-old monuments, camping in an abandoned ancient town, visiting Soviet-era space observatories, swimming in lakes… just to name a few.
My guide, Mikhail, was also a great person who was friendly, fun, humorous and took great care of us during the trip. It felt like I was travelling with a group of long time friends. Mikhail was also knowledgeable about the history and culture of the place, and was good at sharing his great knowledge without going in too deep and making it a boring history class! It was a small group of just 3 travellers, all of us solo travellers, and we became good friends by the end of the trip.

I went to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan with TUD. My guides were Marjona in Uzbekistan and Zaynab in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Overall, I was very surprised by the itinerary which was a good mix of history, culture, nature and outdoor activities. I fondly remember exploring Silk Road cities, homestay in Kyrgyzstan and hikes and outdoor camping in Kazakhstan. We did a lot during the 14 days. My guides were amazing people, who were friendly, fun, knowledgeable and always there on a lookout for us. The people in my group were all like-minded adventurers whom I’m glad to have met and we became good friends. This is a trip I’ll fondly remember and I’ll be back sometime in the future for more.
Special thanks to Zaynab . When I was leaving Kazakhstan for my next country Korea, I had some visa issues and was initially denied checking in to my flight. Though the trip was over and this was beyond her jobscope, Zaynab rushed to the airport to talk to the airline staff to settle the issue. Thanks to her, I was just able to make it onto my flight just in time.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans
I recently experienced one of The Untold Direction's trips, The Silk Road and 3 Stans. Not being one who usually travels with a group, as well as having little familiarity with this part of the world, I was initially hesitant, but after speaking with Ganesha, my hesitations were removed. After registering, I was also able to add a few days of hotel stay to both the beginning and end of the tour.
Our first guide, Marjona, was so kind - she even met me at the airport in Tashkent in the middle of the night. She was knowledgable about Uzbekistan, and was just a gem of an individual. In Uzbekistan, she helped us understand the history and the current culture as we explored parts of Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. As we were leaving Uzbekistan, we linked up with our second guide, Zaynab, who is just all around a phenomenal individual. We remained with Zaynab for the rest of our experiences in Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan - both countries that exceeded my dreams. In Kyrgyzstan, our homestay was such a tremendous few days.
Over the course of the two week trip, I felt that we really got to see different parts of each of the three countries, and it left me wanting to go back to see more. Beyond that, the people that were on my trip were just wonderful individuals, who I now feel will be lifelong friends.
I can't recommend this trip enough for someone who wants to get to a part of the world that they might not otherwise, and I can see myself going on another one of their curated trips in the future.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans
Took the 14 day tour to Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and it was truly one of the best travelling experiences I’ve had - made even better by an amazing guide Misha and the most wonderful travel mates, all of whom I met for the first time on the trip. The itinerary was planned out really well with a good balance between culture and nature. Two weeks flew by far too quickly! I would recommend TUD to anyone in a heartbeat.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans
My recent trip with TUD to the three Stans was an absolutely STUNNING experience. The itinerary was well-crafted. Not only were we able to see diverse places, from ancient cities to stunning natural landscapes, we also had the opportunity to experience a variety of accommodations, including homestays, yurts, canyon camping, and a sleeper train. From interacting with locals and sampling new foods to exploring historical landmarks, every moment of the trip provided a glimpse into the underrated beauty of Central Asia.
One of the highlights was undoubtedly our trip leader, Mikhail. His friendly and knowledgeable approach made the trip truly memorable, and his spontaneity inspired us all. Also, a shoutout to my travel buddies with whom I enjoyed deep yet hilarious conversations every day.
Overall, if you are looking for an adventure of a lifetime with like-minded people, I highly recommend traveling with TUD!

Untouched Kyrgyzstan (Private Trip)
The Untouched Kyrgyzstan trip was a dream come true. TUD has designed the perfect itinerary for us to experience local culture, get a glimpse of the Soviet times and take in the beautiful sights spanning across all seasons for the time that we were there (early May).
We crossed rivers and lakes, climbed hills and canyons, slept in comfortable yurts and guesthouses; the cherry on top being the warm and welcoming hospitality of our guide and the locals, a reason that will keep me going back to Kyrgyzstan for more.
As the name of the tour suggests, we got to enjoy (almost always) complete privacy from the rest of the world, as though the magnificent views were designed to take our breath away. I highly recommend this trip to people who would want to reconnect themselves to nature and immerse in a less known culture, all while under the thoughtful care of TUD’s team.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans
My wife and I went on the 14 day silk road and the 3 stans. It was a super immersive cultural experience. Our main guide, Michael is extremely hospitable and he understood the needs of his clients, especially with varying ages. He's very cognisant about his clients needs. Overall, it was a fantastic trip arranged by The Untold Direction. Can't wait for their next planned expedition in Central Asia. Shout out to Marjona, who was also guiding us in Uzbekistan and Zhanibek, whose family hosted us in Kyrgyzstan. He and his family are so warm and welcoming. Go on the trip to believe it.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans
Guided by the remarkable tour leader, Mikhail and Zukhra, my 14-day journey surpassed all expectations. As a group of solo travelers, including two other fellow solo adventurers, we embarked on an exhilarating exploration of the ancient Silk Road. From the turquoise domes of Samarkand to the nomadic yurts of Kyrgyzstan, every step was a revelation.
Our safety was paramount throughout the trip. Mikhail and Zakhra ensured that each of us felt safe and well taken care of. As travelers, this sense of security allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience.
Our homestay host, Zhanibek, welcomed us into his home with open arms. His cozy house became our refuge after days of exploration. Zhanibek's hospitality erased any lingering worries about traveling in a foreign land—here, we were family.
I don’t usually opt for group tours, but trust me when I say I did lots of research before choosing to go with a tour and deciding to go with TUD. This is money well spent and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The Silk Road & Rural Kyrgyzstan
Just finished a 10D trip with TUD and had the absolute best time exploring Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Whole experience was seamless and well-planned; Mari (our guide) was knowledgeable and took fantastic care of the group, esp when it came to making sure us millennials kept up with Tiktok trends Our homestay host (Jani-bek & family) was also meticulous in ensuring we saw the local and authentic side of Kyrgyzstan, which in itself is a hidden gem. PLUS, his wife makes a-ma-zing food.
This was definitely an unforgettable trip and for anyone considering, 100/10 would recommend thank you very much, I had a lovely time!

Thanks for TUD team for making my Central Asia trip a memorable one. TUD team was easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and ensures we won’t go hungry especially during the more rigorous days where we have to walk more under the blazing sun in Uzbekistan.
Super fun, super wholesome, super tour leaders (kudos to awesome Marjona and amazing Michael!)

TUD exceeded my expectations with their meticulously planned trip to the 3Stans; Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Kazakhstan. The seamless coordination and personalized touch made this journey unforgettable. From the vibrant bazaars of Uzbekistan to the breathtaking landscapes of Kyrgyzstan and the modern charm of Kazakhstan, every destination felt like a unique adventure.
The knowledgeable guides provided insightful perspectives on the places which we visited, a much less beaten path than the usual touristy spots everyone goes to, and a special shout-out to Marjorna for bringing us around Uzbekistan! Not forgetting the amazing Zhannibek and Misha for making this trip an unforgettable one! The intimate group size of six enhanced the overall experience. Accommodations were so comfortable, transportation was efficient, and the itinerary struck the perfect balance between cultural exploration and leisure. Untouched Kyrgyzstan
I recently returned from a two-week trip to Kyrgyzstan with TUD, and it was a truly remarkable experience. The entire experience was highly engaging, offering many breathtaking moments. From crossing high snow passes to discovering desert canyons, each day brought unique adventures and breathtaking scenery. The fresh water lakes and elevated lookout points provided unforgettable views that showcased the natural beauty of Kyrgyzstan. We also had the chance to have multiple homestays and of course a night in a Yurt. Each homestay gave us a glimpse into the local lives and also showcased great hospitality.
Our travel guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the country. He shared insightful commentary on the culture, history, and even the Soviet Union era, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of the places we visited. Additionally, the guide and his team were attentive to our needs, ensuring that any issues were promptly resolved and prioritizing our well-being.
Definitely highly recommend this trip!

Went on the Silk Road & 3 Stans tour with TUD over summer and it was an extremely memorable tour. The tour had a great mix of culture, history and nature and I would highly recommend it to everyone interested in the region.
Travelling on a private tour with TUD meant that the pace and itinerary were tailored to our needs and preferences. We definitely did more than the usual touristy things, and could feel the warmth and authenticity of the locals.
Our guides Mikhail and Marjona were also very knowledgeable and patiently answered our never-ending questions. Special shout out to Mikhail for always going the extra mile to make our experience as enjoyable as possible, and our Kyrgyz homestay host Zhanibek & family for being the absolute sweetest. You could tell they are really passionate about sharing the region’s best with us.

The Silk Road & 3 Stans (Private Trip)
One thing that stood out with TUD is the versatility to adapt to travellers needs. Since I was here with my family, aged between late 20s to late 60s, Mikhail and Marjona respected the physical well being and interest of the group .
There was not much of a delay when it comes to coming up with a contingent plan (PS when we were there the highest temperature it hit was 40 degrees).
Our guides had immerse knowledge also provided detailed insights about the region which we very much appreciated since we were there to learn about the culture.
What's worth noting is the tour group is smaller and more intimate, which meant that the things we got to explore and experienced were much more and days can be packed with loads of activities. So you need not worry about not having enough things to do!
If you are thinking of a location to travel to on your next trip, I sincerely recommend exploring with TUD and you can expect to have a good experience knowing that your plans are well taken care of.
